The short version
If you want the most detailed food logging, strength training tools and an AI coach, and you like starting free, Bevel has a lot to offer. If you want one clear readiness score that still works without an Apple Watch, with sleep, nutrition, mood and more alongside it for one subscription, Vital is the simpler option.

Where Bevel is stronger
Bevel’s nutrition tools are more detailed than Vital’s. You can log by barcode, image, recipe or a plain description, search a database of more than 6 million foods, set calorie and macro goals and track glucose. Strength Builder adds a dedicated strength trainer, and Bevel Intelligence is an AI assistant that gives feedback on your data.
It also works with a wider range of devices, listing Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin and Amazfit, and you can start for free before deciding on Bevel Pro. The app is available in English and 12 other languages.
Where Vital is different
Vital is built around one daily Readiness score, read against your own usual, with pages for Sleep, Heart, Activity, Training, Nutrition, Mood, Stress, Body and Cycle around it. It learns how much sleep you seem to need and suggests a bedtime, and it has widgets and Live Activities.
Vital works with or without an Apple Watch. Without overnight heart readings, Readiness is estimated from last night’s sleep, a short morning check-in and your recent training, and it’s marked as an estimate. See readiness without an Apple Watch for how that works.
There’s one subscription, Vital Club, at £69.99 a year in the UK, compared with £99.99 a year for Bevel Pro, although Bevel also has a free tier. Vital processes your health data on your iPhone and never sends it to analytics.
Which might suit you
- Bevel may suit you if detailed food logging, strength training or an AI coach matter most, if you use a Garmin or Oura, or if you’d like to start free.
- Vital may suit you if you want one calm daily readiness score that works with or without a watch, with sleep, nutrition, mood and the rest alongside it.
